Winemakers Notes:

D'Arideaux is a class of limited production blends containing wines from grape varieties that grow in different wine regions in France and that have been aged for a minimum of 2 years in French oak barrels and an additional several years in bottles before they are released.

The 2006 D'Arideaux consists of Syrah, a grape variety which originated in the Rhone Valley and Cabernet Franc a Bordeaux varietal. When making blends I look for compatibility, synergy and good balance among the components.

This wine has a deep red color with aromas of blackberry and cedar which carry to the palate adding notes of black cherry and coffee. This is a big wine that fills your mouth without being astringent. It has a long and sustained finish with earthy, smoky and savory nuances. You can drink it when released or age it an additional 10 years.
