Winemaker's Notes:
I have always been driven to create blends from varietals
that come from different wine regions of the world and even from different
countries. Sierra Legend is one of
these blends. First made in 2005, Sierra
Legend is a blend of Syrah, a Rhone variety, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet
Franc, both Bordeaux varieties, and Primitivo originating in Croatia but lately
cultivated mainly in Italy. Creating new blends, especially from wines that are
inherently different is by far the most fulfilling and exciting part of my job
as a winemaker. I trademarked Sierra
Legend and I have been making this wine since 2005.
Inky purple in color, this luscious wine has intense aromas
of dark berries and chocolate with hints of black pepper. This is a remarkably
well balanced wine, which makes it hard to identify its components. While the fruit flavors play a dominating
role, you can identify some savory, smoky and earthy notes that continue all
the way to the long finish.
