I founded American Legend Vineyards to re-create the glory of the gold rush era. Our mission is to make bold wines that fit the adventurous spirit of the 49ers who came to California in search for gold in 1849.

To commemorate the Gold Rush Era, I have elected to assume the name, James Marshall, the person who was the first to discover shiny flecks of gold on the banks of the American River in 1848.
