Winemaker's Notes:
Proprietor's Blend was the very first red wine blend that I made in 2004 and
since then continued making it every year. This wine, which became one of the Gallery
Collection Club's most favorite wines, is released yearly in November. Most of the time the components that go into
this wine are the same, while the composition may vary from year to year. In
this vintage we used Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc and Syrah, the regular
components of this wine. In addition, we
also used a small amount of Touriga Nacional, my favorite blending wine.
Each
component was individually aged in French oak barrels for 2 years. We
created the blend at least 6 months before bottling, after which the blended
new wine went back into barrels for an additional aging in neutral barrels
until bottling.
This is an
elegant wine with a deep red color and rich dark fruit aromas, which carry to
the palate. It is a full body wine with a
firm structure with well-balanced flavors, and a long and sustained finish. It has intense dark fruit as well as earthy
and savory flavors with nuances of spice, coffee and cocoa. This is an age-worthy wine, good to drink now
or to stack it away for 10 years or longer.
