Winemaker's Notes:
The name "Due Mondi" translates from Italian as two worlds,
a symbol for the diversity of the origins of the grape varieties that make up
this wine. This is the third vintage of this wine. The first Due Mondi was a 2006 vintage
wine. Then we skipped 10 years and made
our second vintage in 2016. There were
significant differences between the compositions of the 2006 and 2016. The 2006 was made from Bordeaux and Rhone
varietals, containing Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Syrah and Petite
Sirah, whereas in the 2016 vintage we didn't use any Bordeaux varietals,
replacing them with Touriga Nacional, Tempranillo and Zinfandel. In this vintage we are going back to the original
composition, just replacing the Petite Sirah with Touriga Nacional.
Each wine was individually crafted and aged for two years in
French barrels consisting of 20% new barrels.
These five varieties act together with synergy, each one contributing to
the overall flavor and mouthfeel of the wine without having a dominating
effect.
"Due Mondi" has rich dark fruit and earthy aromas that carry
to the palate adding layers of cocoa and a hint of black pepper. This is an elegant wine with a great balance
and a long-sustained finish.
