2013 Touriga Nacional
Estate Grown & Bottled
Shenandoah Valley, California
Winemaker's Notes:
The fruit for this wine came from our Estate vineyards
planted in 2005. Touriga Nacional is
the star grape of Port wines and originated in Portugal. This grape can produce
very exciting and exotic wines with floral and leathery aromas and berry-like
and spicy flavors.
Aged in French oak barrels for 18 months this wine has a dark
ruby red color with herbal and dark berry aromas which intensify on the palate adding
wild berry flavors with hints of pine and cedar. It has a light to medium body reminiscent of a
Nebbiolo.
This wine which has been aged in the bottle for over 3 years
brings an exciting dimension to the flavor profile of the wine intensifying the
herbal and earthy flavors, toning down the fruity flavors, while making the
wine more mellow.
