Winemaker's Notes:
I made this wine in honor of my wife with whom I shared more than 50
years of my life. Elisheva, the wine, is
a blend consisting of 4 components, Syrah, Primitivo, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet
Franc, all of which were made in 2010.
These components were blended and bottled in 2013. This wine is being released, for the first
time, in January 2022 to the Gallery Collection Club. We are releasing this wine after having been
aged for 3 years in barrels and 9 years in the bottle. In the process this wine
acquired an aged quality in its flavor profile while showing a high level of
complexity.
From the beginning, my plan with this wine was to age it a few years
before releasing it. I wanted this wine
to be different, unique, and special.
The choice of components was not arbitrary. Elisheva has 4 components: Syrah, Primitivo, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon. Sierra Legend, which is one of our Flagship
wines has the same components at different ratios. The dominating variety in Elisheva is Syrah,
while in Sierra Legend it is Cabernet Sauvignon.
The flavor
profile of Elisheva is a combination of earthy and savory flavors with nuances of
smokey cured meat and tobacco leaves. In
spite of its aging, it still exhibits strong fruity aromas of dark berries, dark
cherry which carry to the palate with well-integrated oak components. This wine has a perfect balance and a firm
structure with tannins that feel soft on the palate.
