2007 Syrah, Gallery Collection

In 2002 we planted three 2 acre blocks of Syrah each block representing a different clone. Two of the clones are French clones while the third one comes from Australia. This wine was made from the French clone 877. After the harvest of 2007 we started noticing that the vines of this clone were showing signs of stress losing their vigor and becoming barren of vegetation and fruit. In 2009 we partially replaced this vineyard block by grafting it with Petite Sirah from buds coming from the adjacent block. Thus 2008 will be our last vintage of the 877 clone. This wine has a deep color and aromas of dark berries combined with floral notes. The dark berry flavors carry to the palate adding layers of black cherry, vanilla and chocolate. The wine finishes with a long and lingering finish adding spicy and smoky notes. This wine is in its youth and needs to age to achieve its optimum quality.
