Winemaker�s Notes:
This wine is dedicated to the memory of Franc Gunther who passed
away a few days before we harvested his vineyard. The Zinfandel
grapes used in this wine come from his vineyard which is one of the
best Zinfandel vineyards in this valley. It consistently produces
excellent quality grapes that have definite characteristic
identifiers. The wines are always very aromatic with red fruit,
chocolate and black pepper aromas that extend to the palate and to
the lingering finish.
This wine was made in our patented �Submerged Cap Fermentation
Tank� that is capable of fully extracting the flavor, color and
mouthfeel components present in the grapes. The wine was then aged
in predominantly French oak barrels for 10 months.
This most elegant Zinfandel is very varietal in character that
has the typical Gunther Vineyard identifiers. It has aromas of
raspberries and wild herbs with nuances of black pepper. On the
palate you discover layers of flavors starting with fresh
blackberry and ending with wild strawberry. The finish is long and
lasting with dark fruit, dark chocolate and black pepper. This is a
wine that fills your mouth with a celebration of flavors.
