Winemaker’s Notes:
Our Gallery Collection Wines are carefully crafted from our very best vineyard blocks, receiving extra care and attention throughout the winemaking process, and then barrel selected to ensure that a Gallery Collection Wine is the very best expression of varietal character and Sierra Foothill terroir.
“Padre E Figlio” translates to Father and Son. Petite Sirah, or Durif in France, is the result of the obscure French variety Peloursin fertilized by Syrah. Therefore, in this wine Syrah is the father and Petite Sirah, the son. In select French barrels, we aged the wine and were careful to minimize harsh tannins, while still providing a solid backbone for aging potential.
Inky dark purple in color the wine has a dense nose that begins with blueberries. Fruit gives way to pepper, sage, black olive, and vanilla. A structured acidity balances the chewy, dusty tannins. Mint lingers upon the palate with a long boysenberry finish.
