Winemaker’s Notes:
I have always been intrigued by blends of wines that are
inherently different. The excitement comes when you discover a
blend made from markedly different wines that are compatible while
originating from different parts of the world.
Sierra Legend is a proprietary name which I trade marked and
which I intend to use for blends of wines made from grapes that
come from different wine regions in the world. My 2005 Sierra
Legend is my first wine that bears this name and consists of Syrah,
a Rhône Variety, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, both
Bordeaux varieties, and Primitivo originating in Croatia but lately
cultivated mainly in Italy.
This luscious wine opens with dark berry aromas with hints of
black pepper. On the pallet the dark berry flavor quickly
crescendos to layers of black cherry, plum and cassis and finishes
with a lingering full finish of vanilla, coffee and spice.
